Natural stone is a favourite of ours. It’s beautiful, long lasting, low maintenance, and much more versatile than most people would think. It’s been a material of choice for thousands of years, still in use despite the wide range of modern construction options. While modern tools and applications are the rule, stone still stands the test of time. Stone is the epitome of permanence.

Dry Stack Stone Features

Traditionally, banks and government institutions have used stone to project a sense of security and longevity. Castles, temples and cathedrals have all weathered the ages with their original stone, as have bridges, canals and jails. The stone foundations of ancient buildings are still discovered by archeologists in places all around the world. Stone could be built once, and built forever.
Stone fell out of favour due to its high cost, especially as cheaper materials were developed. However, there has been a resurgence in the use of stone. Stuccos and woods require constant upkeep, and modern techniques have greatly reduced the cost of cutting and installing stone. Front steps, pillars, rock walls, patios and fireplaces are no longer just the domain of the ultra rich.
The history in a single piece of stone is deep. A piece could have been hurled from deep inside the earth by a volcanic explosion or driven up from an ancient sea by an earthquake. Each band of colour or preserved fossil is a demonstration of the stone’s origins, held in place for all time. Contact us to
